Droha Uganda is a registered non-profit organization dedicated to breaking cycles of economic vulnerability across rural and peri-urban communities in Eastern Uganda. Operating across Jinja, Kamuli, Mayuge, Luuka, Buyende, Kaliro, and Bugweri, we bridge the gap between emergency relief and long-term economic independence.
Aligned with UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 1, 2, 5, 6, 8, 10, 13, 17) and Uganda’s National Development Plan (NDP III), our integrated model equips youth and women with market-relevant vocational trades, capitalizes community savings groups, promotes climate smart agriculture, and provides clean water access.

Across Eastern Uganda, deep socio-economic inequalities and unpredictable climate patterns continue to lock rural families into cycles of poverty. Women and young people bear the heaviest burden spending hours securing basic needs, managing household care, and facing limited access to formal financial tools or income-generating opportunities
When families lack practical business skills, climate smart farming tools, or community savings mechanisms, unpredictable weather and economic shocks can wipe out household stability overnight. What is Droha Uganda and where do you operate?
Droha Uganda is a registered non-governmental organization (NGO) founded in 2013 and registered in 2018, headquartered in Bugembe, Jinja. We work across Eastern Uganda’s Busoga region focusing on Jinja, Kamuli, Mayuge, and Luuka districts, with planned expansion to Buyende, Kaliro, and Bugweri.

How does Droha Uganda address climate change and food security?
We train smallholder farmers in climate-smart agriculture, urban/peri-urban farming, and natural resource conservation. By promoting drought-resilient techniques and clean energy solutions like solar, we help farming families secure consistent food access and protect their incomes.

What is a SWIPIC and how does it support financial inclusion?
A SWIPIC (Saving With a Purpose Investment Club) is a community-based savings and credit group. We train and equip these groups 80% of whose members are women to build household savings, access micro-credit, and invest in small enterprises.
